Mía

My Girl

Age: 8 years old
Best for: Easy, beginner riders (Suitable for children and people with disabilities)
Temperament / characteristics: Mare - All black color, sweetest girl, calm, strong, loves food, loves to run, quick with her turns. One can fall asleep on Mía and she’ll take you all the way home without worry.
History: Mía came from a local ranch in San Miguel de Allende and was Joel’s first horse. She is truly the boss lady of the ranch. Joel fell in love with her the moment he met her and rode her for the first time. She has that energy that can heal, that mother’s touch of grace, and the strength and stability to take you anywhere, any time. Totally bomb proof!

The ‘Apache’ people from Southwest U.S. and Northern México

Age: 8 years old
Best for: Reserved for Joel or trail leaders
Temperament / characteristics: Stallion - Dapple Grey with a notable blonde color at the end of his tail skirt. Likes the ladies, a Peacock show off, wants to be the star and is leader of the pack on a trail ride. Fearless but wary of new people until he gets to know them.
History: Apache was born in Georgia and came to México when he was a young colt. He is AQH registered and a pure American Quarter Horse who comes from a ‘Charro’ line of working horses. He was trained by a famous arrendador and friend in a small town called Juventino Rosas. After seeing Apache in person and learning that he was available, Joel told his friend that he had to have him. Apache being the lone stallion at SoTeZ, knows he has a great responsibility to lead the other horses. Whether facing stray dogs, snakes, or other stray horses on the trail, Apache is courageous. As beautiful as he is, he is equally noble.

Age: 6 years old
Best for: Nice, easy to intermediate riders
Temperament / characteristics: Gelding - Golden Palomino, tall, funny, playful, likes to horseplay (pun intended), will stick his tongue out at you! Loves to eat and loves to nibble on everything and everyone!
History: Helios hails from Ayotlán, Jalisco, México and is trained in full ‘Charro’ by one of the most famous arrendadores in all of Jalisco! He was acquired from Joel’s uncle who did not want to give up and who raised him since he was born at his ranch. He was the second addition to SoTeZ who absolutely loves trail rides! In the spring and summer months, his hair shines like the golden sun that his body and muscles even sparkle when the sun rays touch him. Truly a gem!

'Queen' in Spanish

Age: 9 Years Old
Best for: Easy, for all and beginner riders
Temperament / characteristics: American Quarter Horse Mare - Pinta. Reina is a dream to ride. Her name is just as it means, she's a queen to ride. Her demeanor is soft, motherly, but she is a strong girl who can handle any terrain. She's a beautiful mare with big, bold eyes that don't fail you. She wares her emotions on her sleeve.
History: Reina belonged to a friend for many years who raised her since she was a foal. She is no stranger to our ranch as she has been used for trail rides, photo shoots and adventure riding. She is used to all types of sounds and terrains and can handle any environment. Her distinct pinto marks make her a standout and she truly is 'La Reina' de San Miguel.

'Dragon' in Greek

Age: 3 Years Old
Best for: Reserved for Joel or tour guides. Drako is currently in training.
Temperament / characteristics: PRE Andalusian Stallion - Dark Bay. Drako is a young boy, so he's very playful, but he's incredibly smart. He walks with elegance and has a beautiful high step, full of energy. Very noble, Drako is humble, but he knows he will grow into a big, beautiful PRE stallion.
History: Drako comes from a ranch in the state of México. He arrived at our ranch at only 2 years old. He's a special horse who doesn't yet know what he's capable of. His long wavy hair glistens in the sun like dragon scales at golden hour.
